Andrew

Thought I would dedicate a post to our sweet and crazy boy himself, to document what he's up to at two years old. I'll also include some pictures of him when he was first born, at one year, and now at two. He's been the light of our lives since he came into this world and continues to amaze us with his budding personality. It will be fun to see how much he and Nathan look and act alike (or different!)

Andrew was only 5lbs, 15 oz when he was born. He was TINY!

He also happened to be a pretty fussy baby due to some reflux issues, so we are praying Nathan may not have these issues and will maybe even be a little bigger so we don't worry quite so much as parents. The reflux worked itself out of course, but it made for a tough first few months.

We were typical first time parents and thought every little burp, smile and fart indicated Andrew was a genius. The first year with him was one of trying to get sleep habits under control, figuring out what was normal, and just spending good quality family time and adjusting to our new crazy life. Heck, we're still doing these things!

Here is Andrew at his 1st birthday party:

Andrew, you were crawling at 7.5 months and walking by 10.5 months. Your first word besides Mama and Dada was "night night". You were a great eater when we started solid foods and haven't stopped. You were spoiled rotten by your parents, grandparents, and the rest of your family your first year with us. I don't imagine that stopping :)

At two years old, he is our "big boy" and has made this transition pretty well. In the past three months or so we have moved him to a new room and a new bed, given up the paci, and potty trained. Poor little guy didn't know what was coming! Of course we still have struggles with these, usually on a daily basis, but the seeds have been planted and we're so proud of him for the big boy he's becoming. He's ready to take on the role of big brother and seems wise beyond his years in understanding what's about to happen.

Andrew, at two you are quite the handful and you are the sweetest little person I've ever met. You are super sensitive to your own and other people's emotions, just like your dad and mom. If another kid tells you something "mean", you burst into tears. It's pretty cute but it also makes me want to beat up random kids at playgrounds sometimes. I think this is a typical mommy reaction. We are working on learning to deal with emotions. However, you are also a total boy's boy and have more energy than I knew was possible. Your favorite things to do these days are play cars, play race, hide and seek, wrestle with daddy, and swimming. You're talking in complete (and rather hilarious) sentences, and crack us up so many times a day. Your thoughts are both profound ("why I can't touch moon?") and true ("pee-pee comes out my wee-wee, poopoo comes out my butt"). You are eating as much as Mommy these days and at the rate this is going I'll have to start getting creative with coupons and grocery shopping as you get older. Your favorite foods are "pep-roni" pizza, "mac-roni", fruit, and Dora yogurt. You have never had an ounce of fat on your little body which must be from all the running you do, crazy little man.

You have so much love for those around you and we are thankful for you every day!
