We celebrated Nate's birthday (August 16th) with a small group of family and friends at my parent's neighborhood pool. Having an August birthday, this kid is destined for many pool birthday parties! It was a perfect warm day and our little Nate loved the swimming, the waterslide, and the attention on him.
What is Nate like at 2? He is so darn stubborn and determined, qualities I bet will be useful in the future but now are a bit funny and frustrating for everyone. He wants to do everything "do it ba ma ma self". His words, not mine. This includes putting on his shoes, buckling his car seat, and pretty much anything else you could imagine. The thing is, he usually can do it by himself, it just takes patience on the part of us as parents and knowing when and how to step in to help. Nate is learning to talk by repeating everything his big brother says. He has really picked up talking since turning two. We are now able to understand him better and he's starting to use complete sentences. Before he talked he hummed/sang TV show theme songs, which he continues to do. He knows Superman, Spiderman, Scooby Doo, Dora, the list goes on and on. He loves getting affection and being affectionate. I still rock him to sleep for his naps and I treasure that time so much. He is just the sweetest and most adorable two year old boy and we couldn't be prouder of him.
Here are some pictures from his birthday party...
Sweet little fish with his puddle jumper. Let's just go ahead and add this to the list of things I wish I had invented. Amazing for little kids in the pool!
