Funny Feedback

Today was sadly Andrew's last day at nursery here in London. We brought cupcakes, said some goodbyes, and I was given an impressive binder full of pictures, artwork, and tons of feedback on how Andrew responded and performed in activities throughout his three months there. Have I mentioned I love early childhood education here? Like all parents, I could read feedback of my child's school performance 24/7. I've already read through the whole binder three times. Some of the feedback just makes me giggle though.

Here are a few excerpts:

On an activity called "mixing paint"-
"He readily used appropriate senses to investigate the mixture and persevered in his investigations. His scientific interest in the process and the results of mixing paint and water was much stronger than his desire to apply the paint to paper or to use it as a medium of representation."
So you're saying he wanted to get messy rather than paint. Got it. I could have told you that...

His interview (what, they have interviews!?!)
"Teacher: What do you like at nursery?
Andrew: I like playing in the garden and the trains.
Teacher: Is there anything you don't like at nursery?
Andrew did not respond. He walked away smiling and joined another child; together they started building a train track."
He is obviously on track for his first presidential candidate interview.

It goes on and on like this. They even claim he said he was making "lovely chocolate cakes" during a paper mache activity, and said "there are lots of pips in the melon" during a fruit activity. My child is officially like 5% British now.

But seriously, I have been so incredibly pleased with his preschool experience here and am so glad we made the decision to put him in, even if for just a short time.
