Or just pint size passport applicants :)
So it looks like we'll be living in London for six months! For those who are curious, here's the background story. Serg works for a great company called Bain, who offers a short term transfer program to allow their consultants to experience life/work in another office. Serg put in for a transfer to get exposure to a group called the Private Equity Group which only has a presence in certain worldwide offices. We were asked to rank cities we would like to be transferred to, then they match up everyone based on needs of that office and preference of the employee. During the process we considered everything from Chicago to Germany. And we were a bit surprised, but thrilled, at being transferred to London!
To us its the best of both worlds- we get to go abroad but still speak the language (although I'm sure there will be some people we still can't understand over there). We have both wanted to experience life somewhere outside of our comfort zone (i.e., texas) at some point in our lives. Since I'm not working and the boys aren't school age yet, its such a great opportunity to go someplace but still know we'll be coming back to friends and family.
We know little about England and will be trying to educate ourselves from now until we leave. I'm making lists like crazy already to try to stay on top of everything we'll need to do. Top of the list is get passports (hence, pictures above) and find a place for our dog. If anyone has any ideas for the latter please let me know. Its so neat to think that the boys will get to have this experience, even though they won't remember much of it. I'm excited about exploring another country with kids and to see how similar/different the cultures are. Serg is looking forward to watching soccer games at english pubs as he's gotten really into english soccer lately. Hopefully we'll be able to take some fun side trips on the weekends too!
