Nathan has been the one who has changed the most since we’ve been here. He’s really changed from a baby into a toddler and it’s been so fun to watch. Since we’ve arrived in London he’s started walking, had five teeth pop through, started babbling including the ever wonderful “mama” and “dada”, started holding his own in toy battles with his brother, and so many other little things that have been a joy to witness. Last week was his 1st birthday and while the big celebration was our Barcelona trip, we are also doing a few small things to celebrate here. The afternoon of his birthday we met some friends at the park close to our flat and they were so sweet to get him some wonderful age appropriate toys that he LOVES and sing happy birthday to him. I say age appropriate because he doesn’t have much besides cars and trains to play with around our house, so toys just for him are very much appreciated. I know one year olds don’t understand on a very deep level, or really on any level, what’s going on on their birthday, but I think Nate knew something special was up that day because he was a little extra happy and smiley.
Here our some pictures from his birthday celebration at the park.
My mom has her cupcake mix all packed so I know we’ll be doing something when my parents are here too. And when Serg’s parents come I’m sure they will want to celebrate Nathan as well. I can’t blame any of them, he’s a pretty sweet little guy and will appreciate all the extra attention.
Serg’s birthday was the day after Nate’s, so we celebrated his birthday too with a special dessert (beignets from the Italian shop down the street) and lots of renditions of the happy birthday song. Can’t believe a year has passed…
Happy birthday precious Nathan and his proud Daddy whose birthday will forever be overshadowed by his son’s… And he couldn’t be happier about it!
