Outing to the Aquarium

I took the boys to the Aquarium a few weeks ago after we had heard from so many people how amazing it is. We went on a day where most of Atlanta kids had already started school, but my kids still had about a week until their school started. I thought it wouldn't be too crowded but there were still quite a few people. It did not disappoint! Definitely the best aquarium I have been to, and they loved it as well. We spent a good four hours there exploring. The highlight was the dolphin show. Of course we ended up in the "splash zone" where they warn that you WILL get wet!

Highlights and thoughts:

The moving sidewalk thing that took us through a tunnel surrounded by water and sea life. So neat.

Getting splashed at the dolphin show and seeing the cool dolphin tricks.

Getting Dippin' Dots and eating them in a banquet hall with a huge aquarium wall where we could watch the animals.

Seeing the puffins which were so cute!

It is so nice that my kids are "kids" and not babies/toddlers anymore. No more diapers, rarely any tears, and I can count on them to show a reasonable amount of responsibility and common sense. For example, they wanted to stay in the gift shop to look around while I got our lunch from the cafeteria-type lunch place. I asked them to stay together and check in with me every five minutes. It was great! Much better than trying to navigate a crowded cafeteria with them. Then I sent them upstairs to find a table for us while I was paying for the food. It was a fun day for all four of us!
