Morningside Nature Preserve

One thing I love about where we live is that its surrounded by trees and nature even while being in the heart of the city. We had driven by this nature preserve several times, and I was curious to check it out. After dropping Sam at his half day school, I brought my four legged child to the preserve and we set off for an adventure.
Even though the beginning of the trail is right by power lines, once you get started on the path it really does feel far removed from everything. Hobbes and I had a really good hike, but about halfway in encountered lots of mud from recent rains. I kept going through alot of it, but then got scared that we would come across a snake or something, so we turned back. The trail was fun and really pretty. When I showed the boys the pictures, Sam wanted me to take him the next day so we did! Its really a great hike for kids and if you take it far enough you get to what people call the "dog beach". When it gets cooler I will try taking Hobbes there.
