Exploring Decatur

The boys had the day off school for MLK day, so we decided to spend the morning exploring the little town of Decatur, which is about 10 minutes from us. We actually had looked at some homes in Decatur during our house search, and its a neat city with a small town feel. First we hit a donut shop called Revolution Donuts. SO good! They use natural ingredients, seasonal fruits and vegetables, etc. We got a good variety - an apple fritter, a strawberry glazed that truly tasted like fresh strawberries, a vanilla bean glaze, and a savory one with ham and cheese. Yum Yum.

Next we went to Your Dekalb Farmers Market. I had been here once before and wanted to show Serge and the boys. It is a GIGANTIC grocery store with everything you could think of. A huge fish market with live fish, crabs, etc. Foods from around the world, bakery, floral shop, and much more. Their produce section is really big and impressive. We got a variety of things, but mostly produce, including 10 cucumbers, 7 lbs of honeycrisp apples, and some huge brussels sprouts. Prices are also pretty good here for good quality.

Then we headed to a cute bookstore called Little Shop of Stories in downtown Decatur. We let the kids each pick out a book and hung out here for a while reading and looking around.

Next was a sporting good store, Play It Again sports. Andrew is starting soccer here so we needed to get him a ball and some other gear. Sam and Nate found a giant tire to play in and Andrew tried out some of the machines.

We had planned to go somewhere for lunch, but by this point we were all pretty ready to go home. It had been a full morning of running around. So next door to the sports place was a falafel place where we picked up some food to go. Later in the day we went to our little neighborhood park to play soccer and then had a dinner made up of the stuff we got at the Farmers Market.
