We started by going to the Atlanta Botanical Garden for their holiday lights event. I had been there once with Sam during the day and was really blown away by how neat it was, so I was really excited to try this nighttime event which I had heard great things about. It did not disappoint! The lights were really something, and the kids had so much fun running around and looking at everything. They had a hot chocolate station and a neat train exhibit too.
The next day we headed to the aquarium, which the boys and I had done once before and our friends really wanted to check out. We spent a good amount of the day here and loved every minute. It really is an impressive aquarium. My favorite part is the tucked away room where you can eat your lunch in front of a giant tank with beluga whales swimming around in it. Not many people seem to realize its open to anyone to go in, so its been pretty empty when we've been there.
Next on the agenda for the following day was the Coca-Cola Museum. It was fun to learn about the history of Coke and the kids and adults alike enjoyed all the exhibits here. They had a tasting room with hundreds of drink flavors from around the world. There was a 4-D movie which was fun for the bigger kids but not so much for Sam and the grown-ups as it really threw you around in your seats! Its a fun thing to do if you're visiting Atlanta.
After this we were all pretty hungry and needing to balance some food with all the sugar from the Coke in our bodies :) So we went to a burger place we really like called Yeah Burger. Andrew took a picture of the parents:
On Sunday we woke up to another rainy day but we knew we had to get the boys out somehow, so we headed to the Fernbank Science Museum. Its close to our house and not only is the inside really cool but they have an outdoor area called "Fernbank Forest" that is really fun to explore.
There was alot of downtime at the house too where the boys played in the basement and ran around the house. The grown ups caught up on lots and played a fun game of scrabble one night as we enjoyed wine and charcuterie goodies. It felt like the weekend went so fast and we were sad to say goodbye to the Wakeems but knew we would see them soon in Dallas over Christmas. So thankful for good friends who like being active and doing fun things!
