It's about a thirty minute walk from our place to the zoo, and we tried it out last weekend. The walk itself was so nice, taking us down Abbey Road and through St. John's Wood and then along the border of Regent's Park. We have been fortunate to meet a family who has lived in our neighborhood for a couple of years and has been sharing so many nuggets of information that have made our transition easier. The dad and little boy were our "guides" getting to the zoo, and another dad and little boy from here came too. The moms are both expecting and stayed home to get some rest. Having people to show us around has been invaluable. I mean, we could figure things out ourselves I'm sure, but it would probably take twice as long and there would be hiccups along the way (we have had adventures like this too here).
The London Zoo is SO kid friendly! We all had a great time and will be going back for sure. We bought season passes so we kind of have to to get our money's worth. On the way back we rode in a little boat down a canal to our neighborhood. It happened to be a beautiful day here, so the whole trip was just great. So far only 1 out of every 2 days here is nice, so you really have to take advantage of them. Here are some pictures from our zoo day:
I just love gorillas. They walk around, pick their butts, and generally just hang around being lazy and people are always amazed and say, "oooh, gorillas!" Of course we did this too.

Some bearded camels. In the background, not the foreground!

Daddy and Nate on the boat. Don't let Nate's expression fool you, he was having a blast! :)
Another boat passing ours.
